My latest Whiff of J0y cards. (okay, now I need to get some more)
Love these images so much. They remind me a little of the Precious Moments, only All Grown Up.

Here are a couple more I've done ... the first is one of the Magnolia images. I just got this from my WRAK secret santa, saxontoy. Have been shying away from these guys (it's the no mouth thing, sorry) ... but have come around cuz the images are so stinking cute! This was my first try using the Copic markers (and Bic for the blue). I only have 2 yellow Copics, and that's quite by accident. I bought them for a poster for cheerleading - they were out of every other yellow/gold marker at Hobby Lobby in the summer. Little did I know the gem I had.
These last two were based on the Featured Stamper challenge over at SCS (FS98- Cards by America). First thought the pink one a bit too much 'pepto-bismally', but it's actually growing on me. I've made a few more in different colors. Very versatile, lol.
Thanks for stopping by!

Dontcha just love the Whiff of Joy stamps? (I do!)

This is Lizzie with Muff and Herb with Baby. Both of them were for the Limited Supply challenge on SCS where we were to recycle, reuse, just go Green (LSC198).
On the Lizzie card, I took the hardware off of a RAK card that was given me last Christmas before I even figured out how to load pics up on the system. (I have fixed that older RAK card, so the sentiment is just matted, so all's well). I sponged the oval using the masking technique & Tim Holtz' tea dye ink pad with a sponge. My DD has a Rothschild's coat that we bought her years ago that this image reminded me of, so I had to color it velvety green.
On the Herb card, I took apart one of my old cards that I felt was a little too simplistic and used the bordering blue base again. If you look close, yes, you'll see a mistake - I forgot to color the holly berries & leaves on Herb's hat. I have since rectified that, so whoever gets this card will get a completed version, lol. (Just not worth it to re-take the pic, size it, adjust color, add watermark, well, you get the picture).
I've got 2 more Whiff of Joy images 'setting up' so once I finish them & get around to photographing them, I'll be back.
Thanks for sneaking a peek.
Had some more time between studying to pop off a few more cards ...
This is one of my Whiff of Joy images. I love these stamps because they remind me so much of my DD. This challenge on SCS was for Ways to Use it - Half Baked (WT196) - to use half an image or somehow incorporate 'half' into the mix. I used my SU Parisian DP and cut strip from the striped piece to make it look like Willow was walking through the door with her plate of scrumptious cookies. I love this paper, and the colors in it ... my only problem is- I'm OUT of Burgundy c/s. I just love these Whiff of Joy images!
This challenge was the color challenge for the week - Teal, Riding Hood Red and Baja Breeze (CC196). When I first heard the colors announced, I thought "Uh Oh" .. Couldn't wrap my brain around them. But played around with them and scoped out images, and decided to use some of my original stamps ever bought ... Judith. The set on the left are nearly identical, just switched around the cardstock layers. Same with the one on the right. Both sets are 'build it up' sets (don't know what else you call it) ... Left: stamp the green several times to make it look either like a bouquet or flowers drying upside down. Then you take the floral stamp (on a stick) & go to town. On the right, after adding the colored lights, on 2, I 'strung' gold or platinum stickles to make it look like garland. On the 3rd one, I added glossy accents on each bulb to make them 3D and shiny.
I'm not too keen on this one ... the challenge was a sketch challenge (SC206), and for the size of circles I wanted to put on for these images, I had to go long - business envelope-long. What stumped me was the DP and the colors. Not sure if it was to use up the last of my very old SU DP or what, but I landed on this Brilliant blue, real red, summer sun combination. I'm not a fan of the primary colors (that's to say I don't USE it much unless I'm told to) ... while I like the basics of it, I'm still not sure about the color combinations. I need to snag some smaller circle punches, too, I think.
Anyway - thanks for stopping by again.

Hi all ... just got some Whiff of Joy images and couldn't wait to get my hands on them. I used the featured stamper, annascreations, for the FS96 challenge. She has some WONDERFUL cards for sure. Take a peek.

I colored Willow with Lantern using prismas colored pencils and gamsol then masked the glow for the lantern. Tried to make her dress look like velvet, but was a little light-handed with the color - think I was afraid to go too dark with my first Whiff of Joy. I'm LOVING all their images - just disappointed there aren't even MORE to choose from. Give them time, tho, and we'll all be even more amazed.

I'm pretty proud of Willow here, and hope you enjoy her as well. Thanks for stopping by.

These items are now in a box on their way to my Secret Elf. The first one is an altered address book. I put an inside sheet inside the plastic to finish it off. The 2nd picture is of a 5x5 photo album. I covered the chipboard with Perfect Plum assorted DP and ModPodged the outside cover for additional protection. I used scraps of the PP-DP on the inside of the scrapbook to give it a little bit of oomph, yet still leave her room to make it her own. I made the rings shorter to give it a different look than I see all the time, and put it right in the middle.
I also made her a journal out of one of those composition books. I know this idea has been around forever, but I'm such a huge fan of the pretty journals. I stamped the image on vellum & embossed in white then colored the back side of it with markers. I scored the corners & matted them on coordinating plum, old olive and mellow moss DP's. The reason the book looks so crammed full is ... well, because it's crammed full. Full of stamped images that she had on her Wish list as well as a couple of other goodies that she's expressed an interest in. I finished this journal off by attaching a 1/4 inch grossgrain ribbon in the mellow moss.
Purple IS her favorite color, so I'm hoping she likes all the altered items and the other miscellaneous goodies I stuck inside the box. I can't show you the final altered item until after next Friday when we get to open the boxes. (you guessed right - it's personalized).
Anyway ... thanks for listening to me ramble for the last hour. I enjoyed making these cards and altered items so much, I can't wait until my Microbiology class is over in 2 weeks so I have a bit more time to spend at the stamping table once again.
Keep your eyes peeled, tho ... cuz I got a few Whiff of Joy images and I can't wait to play with them. They're so beautiful. All the girls remind me of my DD ... and she's certainly a honey!
Take care and we'll 'see' you later.

All 6 of these cards were for an Inspiration challenge over at Splitcoasters. The inspiration came in the form of wrapping papers. Lots and lots of bright colorful patterns that we needed to be inspired by. I actually made over 10 cards from this challenge, so I must have been pretty inspired at the time.

The first 3 are fairly straightforward stamping. For the 4th one (with the dual Pine trees), I took a mask in the shape of 2 separate triangles and mini sponge daubers and 'twisted' the dauber on the paper. This effect spreads the ink so it's darker in the outside rim of the circle and lighter at the center, to give the circles a ball like appearance. I used 3 different shades of green to compliment the DP on the card. For the 5th card, I followed the deets for a Buckle card. I went to the Resources sections of the SCS website to find the pattern. My favorite of the bunch has to be this big square card. I took white card stock and vellum cardstock and tore them into strips. I layered white on vellum and interspersed the layers all down the card, attaching them with silver eyelets.
The challenge for this card was to create a circle medallion using a corner punch. We cut the circle out first, then punched it around with a decorative corner punch. I added a scalloped edge behind the circle in hunter green & was able to finish the card with a wide strip of the green satin ribbon.

Finally, got some new blood in ... Received these Whipper Snapper images and had a field day. The first one is Shoveling Snowman, then Christmas Trio, then Chicken on a Swing. These Whipper Snapper stamps are just so stinking cute.

This one here is Edward the Elf. Elves are pretty hard to come by nowadays, but this guys pretty darned cute. As for the cat, don't you think it looks like Snickers? (I know .. who's Snickers)

These images are from Rubber Necker. First 2 are 30-40's throwbacks. I loved coloring them and matching outfits with the designer paper. The Girl hugging the flag is more cutsey than the others, but was feeling very patriotic when I colored it.

The 2 challenges on the left were left over from the Splitcoast sketch challenge SC205. The one on the right is from a challenge where we were supposed to use only Snowflake DP, snowflake embelly and keep the card monochromatic. I ended up punching out the edges with a border punch on each side of the dark blue cardstock strip and finishing it off with white sparkly snowflake dies.
I think that may be all that fits here in this post, so I'll be off for now ...
These creations were for the Dynamic Duos/Divine Secret Sisters Round 3. We were to send at least 2 cards per month to our Secret Sister, all the while keeping our identity a secret. We were able to communicate via secret emails we made up, but not reveal our true selves until 3 months was up. I had so much fun creating stuff for my lil Sis, it was hard to know when to stop. In case you weren't sure, her favorite color was red.

This is an altered cigar box. I always love little trinket boxes for myself, so assume that everyone else does, too. These are coated, so you can use it for almost anything. I tore some pretty DP then distressed the edges with walnut ink then ModPodged them on. Once dry, I stamped with Versamark and black embossing powder from the Stampin Up sets Antique Collectibles and Papa's Pocket. Also added a few other sentiment stamps. Finished it off by adding chipboard pieces and ribbon and buttons (shanks cut off) that had an old world look to them, as well as one of those closures that you wrap the string around. (I'm sure there's a technical name for them, but if you know me, it's "that thingy ma-bobber".
For her name, I found some wood letters painted white at the $ store and rubbed my Red Riding Hood ink pad over it to give it some color without actually painting it solid. Then took same distressed ink pad from the cigar box and rubbed it around randomly. Used the same stamping method here with the embossing powder. On the wooden letters, I also glued on some small buttons and tiny key charms before sealing it with a couple of ModPodge layers. The letters are about 8-10 inches tall, I didn't measure them.

One more thing I made was this mini scrapbook ... okay, so I expanded it a bit more and it's not quite as mini as when I set out. Decided on a size I wanted the pages to be and basically just made card bases folded in half in alternating colors (old olive and vanilla). I glued these together facing each other. I got the idea from something I saw sitting on the counter at Archivers. While theirs was only about 4 pages, I wanted a little more girth in this one, so I kept going .. and going .. and going .. (where IS that Energizer bunny when you need him?) ANYway ... I took about 4-5 sheets of DP that had similar colors without going for 'matchy-match' designs. I took these papers and cut them in random sizes and shapes and placed them throughout the inside of the book, on both sides, to give my Lil Sis something to start with, yet leaving her room for her own style and pictures of her family or friends. While its not that difficult to make these, I found it difficult to actually want to send it ... I was quite pleased with the results.
Anyway ... my Lil Sis seemed pleased with her stash, so I was happy as well.
I'll be back later to post some more of my recent cards. There's a couple that I have to say I'm kind of proud of.
Thanks for hanging out ...
